As we approach the midway point of our 90th year in business, I reflect on what has been a super charged anniversary.
We have recently completed our showroom and service reception upgrades. It has taken almost a year of dust, noise, frayed nerves and disruption but it really has been worth the wait! One of the key elements that we have focused on throughout the project is delivering a far more modern, bright, and enjoyable customer experience and I think our construction team have delivered on that promise. We are so grateful for your patience during the renovations, and we hope you enjoy the new look and feel as much as we do!
At the end of June, one of the stalwarts of our business, Douglas Escreet, bows out and retires to the perfectly formed waves of Jeffrey’s Bay. He started his career with us in 1984 as an apprentice. After a short stint with Mc Duling Motors he returned to us as Service Manager in 1990. With his consistent performance at the highest level, considerable aftersales experience and relentless focus on customer service he was then asked to join the Board of Directors of Hooper Motors in 2011. I would like to thank Doug for giving so much to Hoopers over the last 39 years. Enjoy your retirement – you’ve earned it!
As we say goodbye to Doug, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Hendrik Erasmus to the position of Service Manager at Hoopers Volkswagen. He has 21 years of experience in the motor industry and for 14 years he has headed up large workshops in the Volkswagen and Ford stables. Hendrik is married to Lindi, with two children, Corne and Morgan. He hails from Potchefstroom and supports the Blue Bulls (ed: aaargh! It had to be too good to be true…).
